How do you know when it’s the right time for your business to have branding photography.
You’ve seen that other people are having shoots, and you know you need to be more visible. But is it the right time for your business to have a brand shoot, have you got all your building blocks in place.
Here is a quick checklist.
1. Do you have a brand identity?
If your business is new, or you’ve just started working for yourself, then you want to get in front of your ideal clients. But do you have a clear idea of what your message is and how you are going to sell that message?
“Your brand is the single most important investment you can make in your Business“ - Steve Forbes
Brand building is an important first step for brand awareness. You need to have a clear idea of what your brand is and what it represents. What makes you unique – Really knowing yourself is the key to developing a rock solid personal brand. What matters to you? What are you’re, who’s and why’s?

2. What are your brand values?
Your brand values are your foundation. Everything about your brand, from your actions to your logo and even your language, should reflect those brand values.
What words would you use to describe your personal brand? Brand values are often one or two words that have been carefully chosen to represent the heart and soul of your business.
Every time you connect with others, you’re exercising your brand values and voice. The way you speak should be recognisable and consistent. Let your potential clients know more about who you are, and start building the know like and trust.
Nearly 6 in 10 say their default tendency is to distrust something until they see evidence it is trustworthy. 2022 Edelman Trust Barometer
3. Do you know who your Ideal client is?
Who are they, what do they do? Where do they hang out? You need to know who you’re marketing to, you need to know the wants and needs of your ideal client. What are their dreams and goals? What is their outlook on life? How can your product or service help your ideal client achieve this end goal?
What are their pain points and how are you going to solve them? This is the best way to satisfy the wants and needs of your ideal client.
The more you come to know your ideal client, the easier it will be for you to create content that speaks directly to them. You become magnetic. When a potential client feels like you “get them,” your offer becomes so much more appealing.
Making a purchase online involves a lot of emotions. If you want your ideal client to commit, you need to stir up the right emotions. You can do that by creating a compelling marketing message.

4. Brand Aesthetics
Consistency is key to brand building and brand awareness, you will need Colour, Logo, Fonts.
What are your brand colours? Different colours convey different meanings and different messages. Choosing the right colour scheme for your brand is fundamental in building a strong emotional connection with your audience.

Your logo is a dominant part of your brand identity that helps you create the right impression on your customers and at the same time helps them associate your brand with your product or service. There are many companies who have become easily recognisable thanks to their signature style. For example, look at Apple or Google. One look at their logo and you immediately know what the company is.
Fonts have personalities, you can understand the message or branding. Fonts are the first impression for your possible future clients, so finding fonts that portray the company’s brand is important.
Tell a brand story
For Brand Photography to really work for you, you’re going to need a cohesive visual identity that not only looks good on your website but can also be used for social media too.
Your brand story is the narrative of your brand and how it got to be that way. A picture is, as they say, worth a thousand words. Choosing and creating visuals to represent your personal brand is just as important as your written story.
How is a photographer going to tell your story if you do not have a brand identity with a clear message? You need images that speak directly to your ideal client, in a consistent tone and feel. Images that shout your brand and its values.

As a Brand photographer I can help you with your images, I can make sure they are on Brand. That they tell a narrative that speaks to your ideal clients. I can tell your story with beautiful bespoke images. I use a workbook to build your shoot, you can read how here. But I cannot do it if you do not know what it is, or have a clear brand identity.
Once you have a brand identity then a branding shoot for your business will give you the edge and people will see that you’re serious about it. Brand photography will help people with the ‘know, like and trust’ factor and give you a great reason to be recognised as the expert you are.
